Launching New Projects

Every day is important in our work and our chosen fields...but this week and this month are particularly momentous in World Oceans Arts' launching of new ventures. We began production of two movies this week! They are a sibling pair: AcquaTroupe! (starring TessWilliams) tells the story of how we recently created a phenomenal live performance ensemble which will share music, theatre and other arts in performing spaces far and wide. The movie combines a dramatic-romantic story with footage of the real-life troupe coming together for the first time.

The twin of this movie is Surviving in the Arts, in which a series of autobiographical vlogs allow artists to describe their delicate balance between artistic career dreams and the harsh necessities of life in society. This week we began obtaining wonderful footage for this film with the amazing actress-singer Kate Brady of New York.

This month we also begin working with prominent dancers and dance companies as we initiate a celebration of the art of movement.  Baseball has always been my favorite sport. I love the thousands of tiny fluid gestures and calculations which make it possible to execute a double play, or to hit a triple or an inside-the-park home run. Basketball, gymnastics, figure skating, and a few other sports share this stunning combination of lightning speed and intricate choreography. World Oceans Arts will begin exploring the many shades of beauty and elegance in such activities. All sports exhibit artistry; all arts require an important component of athleticism at one level or another.

We have some great events coming up, beginning with a September multi-arts showcase in Atlanta, and a dazzling celebrity cafe in New York City in October. The latter will include a showcasing of "Cafe Playa Moon", the play which has enjoyed three Off and Off Off Broadway productions. Most recently it was produced -- and filmed! -- in compact fashion with a cast headed by Abby Dufresne, Jake Clarke and Remington Moses. We are going to send the play out on tour in 2018. Speaking of traveling, in January we will launch a marathon of music, filming and live performances in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, and in every European country, over the next two years!  We call the project All 51 and it will bring our work to many audiences far and wide.

At World Oceans Arts we are always seeking new people: not just performers and creators, but staff and crew, donors and fundraisers and marketers. For All 51 we will need help with coordinating logistics and public relations in many places. Finally, of course, we want audiences who can enjoy all our hard work. So whoever you are, wherever you are, and whatever appeals to you, please contact us! We would love getting to know you, and we'll do our best to fill up the empty spaces in your life with beautiful, meaningful art.
